What People Are Saying

Overdale Lodge is where outdoor adventure meets retreat tranquility. Whether venturing out to crystal-clear lakes or staring into the beautiful eyes of a rainbow trout caught fresh off the Kootenai River, Overdale Lodge is at the epicenter of it all. The stunning backdrop of Yaak, Montana provides the perfect backdrop to re-calibrate your senses inside the gates of the idyllic Overdale Lodge.

Nobody knows northwest Montana's hidden gems better than Seth & Marybeth. From hiking to shooting to huckleberry picking to grilling freshly caught trout over an open fire, they made our trip an adventure we won't soon forget. While the surrounding landscape of the lodge is striking in its own right, it's the personal touch and eagerness of the onsite team to share all the very best Yaak has to offer that makes this lodge truly one of a kind.

We were looking for a quiet and beautiful place to relax, enjoy nature and be with our friends. The Overdale Lodge couldn’t have been a better fit. Not only were the grounds and accommodations superb and comfortable, the Moore family could not have been more gracious and hospitable. We took them up on their offer to prepare some meals and they blew us all away! Incredible home grown garden fresh veggies, bread, sauces, game, deserts, throw your table out the front door delicious, mouthwatering food! They were friendly, helpful and genuinely wonderful hosts. The property itself and surrounding environment also allowed us to enjoy a full range of activities from the lake, dock, paddle boards, walking trails and relaxing porch on property to fly fishing, hiking and float trips near-by. All in all, I would recommend this as an excellent family or small group get away that is truly unique and a high value one of a kind experience. We will be back!

“If you've been in search of a getaway place that offers peace and tranquility look no further...Overdale Lodge in Yaak, MT is your "go to" place.

We recently spent the most glorious week plus on vacation there and mere words cannot do it justice. The two lodges are both unbelievable in their own unique ways, nestled among tall trees, bordered by three small man-made lakes and national forests as far as the eye can see making this the perfect setting. Ideal for bird watching, fishing, hiking, canoeing or just relaxing. You can do it all, or nothing at all.

Grounds are well maintained by friendly, accommodating caretakers who are only too happy to please. An adorable young couple!

Wildlife! Wildlife!! Wildlife!!! We counted 62 deer one evening as we relaxed on our veranda and planned our next day’s activities.

Thank you, owners, for a marvelous time we will never forget. Plan to return one day soon and bring our "skeptical" family and friends...they won't be disappointed, we surely were not.”

“Every once in a while I come across something I need to share. Overdale Lodge is such a location. Located in Northwestern Montana, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever visited. Having lived in Northern California in the Mt. Lassen, Mt. Shasta area I never thought any other place would impress me as much. Boy, was I ever wrong. Overdale Lodge and the surrounding areas are some of the most beautiful mountains and valleys I have ever seen. Seeing is believing.

The lodges are large, beautiful log structures that fit in perfectly with the surrounding terrain. The view from the spacious main room and large deck overlooking Obermayer Lake and meadow take my breath away. Geese, duck, bald eagles and other fowl are in abundance. In the evening you can count from 30 to 100+ deer feeding in the meadow and the front yard.

Surrounding the property is 500,000 acres of National Forest that offer a variety of hunting and fishing. Guided fishing float trips are available on the beautiful, nearby Kootenai River. If hunting and fishing is not your thing, a quiet, peaceful day of relaxation is always a good option.

This is truly an outdoorsman’s paradise.”

“I had the amazing opportunity to take my family, including three teenagers and my parents to the Overdale Lodge for the best week imaginable. We arrived on a beautiful day, greeted by deer, elk, and Canadian geese, as we entered the property.

The log home was luxurious, practical, and well stocked, with all the amenities we needed for the week. The layout, with its open kitchen, large family room, and perfectly placed picture windows, invited ample opportunity for family bonding. Three teenagers were kept happy and occupied with a closet full of games, a pool table, and a stocked fishing supply room! After a jam-packed day of hiking, fishing, and exploring Montana, coming back to Overdale Lodge, felt like coming home.

Spending time at Overdale Lodge is like hitting the "pause" button in a chaotic, busy life. The memories made are priceless and my whole family is excited to return to our newly discovered paradise!”

“From the moment we entered the Overdale property, we knew we had discovered a true natural gem!

The wildlife was amazing! From inside the comfortable chairs nestled by windows, or outside on the deck, we saw deer throughout the day, but especially during the evenings. We saw fawns and bucks cavorting through the meadow. We also viewed eagles and osprey soaring overhead as well as ducks and ducklings swimming in the ponds and lake. Our special treat, though, were the two occasions when a moose leisurely roamed the meadow right next to the Lake House.

One of the true highlights of our stay, though, was meeting and getting to know the caretakers Seth, Maribeth, their three adorable boys, and their dog Copper. They were incredibly friendly and accommodating by checking in on us every day to see if we needed anything or suggesting activities that might enhance our stay. Although we just met them, we felt as if they were longtime family friends!

In conclusion, our stay at Overdale was a once-in-a-lifetime experience (well maybe a three-in-a-lifetime experience), and we DEFINITELY plan to return!”

“As soon as we arrived at the Overdale Lodge, we were quickly overcome with a sense of peace and serenity, surrounded by rolling hills, abundant wildlife, never-ending forests, and big skies.

The Lodge immediately felt like home, with beautiful rustic craftsmanship, a fully stocked kitchen with a professional range (all you have to bring are groceries), and an expansive great room and front porch looking out on the Obermayer Lake and rest of the property.

The Lake House is incredibly roomy with 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths, and a dining area that seats more than 12 people, making it perfect to comfortably host a large group. After a day of activities, it was great to unwind at the lodge, eat dinner under the stars, and relax in the great room next to the elegant fireplace.

Overdale is in a great location with unsurpassed access to nature and the outdoors. We stayed for a full week and were not at a loss for activities. We explored numerous scenic hikes, took a day trip to the pristine Lake Koocanusa, and spent a day fly fishing with one of the country's premier outfitters on the Kootenai river. The Yaak and Troy area also offers some of the world's best hunting.

We recommend spending a day enjoying and exploring the 500 acre property, which is one of the regions most well-known ranches with a storied history. The Lodge is stocked with paddle boards, kayaks, and fly rods that you can use on the Obermayer Lake.

It is also worth noting that Seth and Marybeth who are the property caretakers are outstanding hosts. It was a pleasure interacting with them and their three children who made us feel right at home. Having lived in the Yaak for the greater part of a decade, Seth and Marybeth are well known and respected in the Yaak and Troy communities. As a result, we had access to all the best outfitting organizations and were well received everywhere that we went.

Come to the Yaak and Overdale for an unforgettable experience. You will leave refreshed and revitalized with a renewed appreciation for nature and the outdoors!”

Take me back to the Yaak!

My kids (ages 10, 14, 16) and I stayed at Overdale Lodge with two other families this summer. It was an amazing experience. The peace and serenity the property affords is unlike anywhere else I have ever been. It truly allowed us to escape from the world. I was able to read a book from cover to cover, which is a major accomplishment for me. Teenagers who are typically connected to a device, taught each other backgammon, played  board games and entertained themselves for hours on the lake. A couple of the boys had a fly fishing lesson with Overdale Lodge resident experts Eli and Seth. They were hooked and able to hike to a couple of lakes to practice their newly acquired skill after getting their fishing license.

We drove to the property from Spokane, which took about 2 1/2 hours, stopping for groceries along the way and were set for 10 days. We cooked for ourselves, had nightly bonfires and enjoyed the amenities of the property. One afternoon we ventured down to the Mercantile for drinks, lunch and a jump in the Yaak River. The kids all took turns jumping from the bridge into the icy water, a truly memorable and invigorating experience.

Lucky for us our return flight out of Spokane was cancelled so we flew out of Kalispell, this gave us the opportunity to take a different route home. We visited the Kootenai Falls and Suspension Bridge as well as the town of White Fish, some added fun for our Montana adventure. The true highlight however was our stay at Overdale Lodge, we all yearn to return and plan to make this an annual trip for our families!
